Growing GRACE:  A Non-Profit Story

GRACE is a faith-based non-profit relief agency that provides food, clothing and other emergency assistance to people who are in need in Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake.  Shonda Schaefer was named Executive Director of GRACE in 2006.  Under her leadership, through the good times and the challenging ones, GRACE has touched thousands of lives.  In this workshop, you'll hear the story of GRACE, and learn about the best practices that have fostered its growth and earned this non-profit a special place in the community it serves.

In 2003, Shonda joined the Board of Directors of GRACE in Grapevine, Texas.  With the retirement of the agency's founder in 2006, Shonda was asked to take on the role of Executive Director.  Prior to joining the GRACE team, Shonda had established a career in non-profit leadership including positions with the YWCA, Captain Hope's Kids, Contact Crisis Line and Children's Cancer Fund.  As a Certified Non-Profit Manager with over 25 years of experience, she is responsible for strategic planning, program design, fundraising, community relations, board development, staff supervision, volunteer management, and financial planning.

Born and raised in Iowa, Shonda and her husband Paul have lived in Texas since 1995.  They have two sons.  All are actively involved in volunteer work in the community.

Shonda has been recognized as:  Legacy of Women Award, Grapevine Citizen of the Year, Grapevine Chamber Member of the Year, Rotary Club Pro of the Year, the Congressional Leadersip Award, and others.
